A worldwide player on the insurance market with a Benelux branch
What’s the role of a leader in difficult circumstances?
Like all insurance companies, we were seriously hit by the financial crisis of 2008. Since, austerity plans have succeeded one another, including the licensing of personnel. Our leaders face serious challenges. They have to do more with less and at the same time help their workers digest the changes.
Can you help us?
The Belgian department of a German multinational
Our division is being restructured at European level with serious consequences for the Belgian linchpins. While some may benefit, the area of responsibility of others will drastically be cut down. And although they won’t be fired, it’ll be hard to digest and frustration will be high.
Could L&AD assist us in keeping these valuable people and bringing them to their previous performance level as soon as possible?
The Benelux branches of a multinational in a port related sector
Our branches in the ARA-region (Antwerp, Rotterdam, Amsterdam) need to optimally work together and develop synergies in the field of commerce and costs. But we can’t disregard the specificities and cultural differences.
Can you assist us in bringing this “integration” to a good end by taking the best of both worlds?
A Federal Public Department
Our FPD will embark in a complex and fundamental change process, comprising several changes:
- Moving offices
- Introducing open plan offices and flex-workspace
- Increasing teleworking
- Introducing a new system of development circles (evaluation system)
Can L&AD help us to implement the changes without affecting the performance levels? Even more, we want to increase both effectiveness and efficiency.
A large building company (infrastructure)
Our collaborators are good and motivated and we know it’s a luxury. But we don’t want tot take it for granted. That’s why we wish to enhance the leadership skills of our leaders (team managers, superintendents and project managers).
We ask L&AD to assist us in the process.
An important player form the service sector
The sector that requires our services is having a difficult time. Their hardship is being reflected in our shrunken profit margins, with obvious consequences for our personnel. They are all walking on the tips of their toes.
The demands of our clients on the other hand have not decreased, on the contrary. Our managers have to work in this tense climate. It’s not evident to stand in between the Executive Board, the personnel and the unions.
How can we ensure that all parties keep looking in the same direction instead of being played off against one another?
An SME with a number of shops (construction related products)
We took over another SME with complementary and related products.
A good strategic move, were it not for the considerable differences in organisation culture. Especially the performance of the commercial collaborators is significantly lower.
How can we bring it in tune with the rest of the company?
An SME from the textile industry
The management team decided to work out a strategic development plan. It wasn’t hard to elaborate a concrete technical and commercial plan.
The main issue however was: “how do we motivate our personnel fort his plan?” L&AD assisted the board of directors with the human aspects, as well for the board itself as for the collaborators.
A company in Luxemburg from the service sector
This company yearly attracts a lot of new talent. We developed a simple and efficient management programme allowing them to get acquainted with a great number of tools in a limited time.
It’s important that these inexperienced young talents learn how to integrate in the culture and philosophy of a large group, and how to develop self-confidence.
A Government Institution in Brussels
The management programme for young managers offers a great number of trainings. Despite the excellence of the programme and the considerable investment, many young managers look for other approaches in order to find solutions that fit in with their way of working. Participants do not always manage to apply what they’ve learned in concrete situations. L&AD fills in the need of efficient individualised solutions.
